In Eugene, there is a fourth option when it comes to emergency services: CAHOOTS. Provided by White Bird Clinic, this is a service that is frequently used for non-violent behavioral health crises, who respond upon request instead of the police. They are also able to provide non-emergency medical assistance and transportation to the Emergency Department. Be wary however, not only can they take a very long time to show up, there have been examples of the police showing up instead of CAHOOTS. Despite these drawbacks, they tend to be a wonderful resource.
